GPSR responsible person for Amazon EU sellers
If your company is outside the EU and you sell on any Amazon European marketplace, the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR, Regulation (EU) 2023/988) has required a responsible person established in the EU since 13 December 2024. Amazon added mandatory fields for it in Seller Central and can deactivate listings that lack it.
What Amazon asks you to enter
For each product under GPSR, Seller Central wants the manufacturer's name, address and email, and, where the manufacturer is outside the EU, the responsible person's name, postal address and email. Those details must also appear on the product, its packaging or an accompanying document, and in the listing itself (Article 19). Amazon checks the fields; market surveillance authorities check the parcel.
Who can be your responsible person
Article 16 allows four options: a manufacturer established in the EU, an EU importer, an authorised representative with a written mandate, or a fulfilment service provider in the EU. Sellers who ship from outside the EU, or through FBA without an EU importer, usually have no one in the first two roles, so they appoint an authorised representative. That is what we are.
What the responsible person actually does
Verifies that your technical documentation and, for CE-marked goods, the declaration of conformity exist and match the product; keeps them available to authorities for ten years; gives information to authorities on request; tells them if a product is dangerous; cooperates on corrective action. It is a documents-and-contact role. It does not test products and it does not replace your own duties as the brand owner.
What you send us
Company registration details, the product list, photos, a short technical file per product (description, materials, risk analysis, any test reports), label artwork and the listing. For low-risk goods such as clothing, bags, phone cases and stationery this is usually a one-afternoon job. We check it before we sign; within 24 hours of a complete file you receive the signed mandate, the label text and the listing text.
What it costs
