GPSR responsible person for eBay sellers outside the EU

eBay added product-safety and responsible-person fields to listings in 2024 for items offered to EU buyers. If your business is outside the EU, those fields need a responsible person established in the EU, or the listing is not compliant and can be hidden from EU buyers.

The fields

Manufacturer name and contact details, responsible person name and contact details (for non-EU manufacturers), product identifiers and safety information. These mirror Article 19 of the Regulation. The same details must be on the product or in the parcel.

Business sellers, not private sellers

GPSR obligations fall on economic operators: manufacturers, importers, distributors, fulfilment providers and online marketplaces. A private individual selling used personal items is not an economic operator. A business selling new goods is, whatever its size.
