GPSR responsible person for Shopify stores shipping to the EU
Marketplaces enforce GPSR with form fields. Your own store has no form, so many non-EU brands assume the rule does not reach them. It does: an offer to EU consumers is an offer to EU consumers whatever the platform, and customs and market surveillance authorities inspect parcels, not platforms.
What the product page must show
Under Article 19: the manufacturer's name, postal address and email; where the manufacturer is outside the EU, the responsible person's name, postal address and email; a picture, type or other identifier of the product; and warnings and safety information in the language of the member state where the product is marketed. A "Compliance" block under the description is the usual way to do it.
What the parcel must carry
The responsible person's details on the product, packaging, parcel or an accompanying document. A one-line card in the box works. If the product is CE-marked, the CE mark and the declaration of conformity sit with the manufacturer and the responsible person.
Geo-blocking is not a plan
Some stores block EU addresses to avoid the Regulation. If EU customers are a real share of your sales, the responsible person is cheaper than the blocked revenue: €199 a year against a market of 450 million people.
